Moving Forward: Exploring Our Routes in Saratoga C Monday, January 04, 2010 - Friday, December 31, 2010

| "One of the most important pillars of a modern economy is the ability to move goods and people where they need or wish to go.”
One of the first indicators of the economic “crisis” that began in 2008 was the sharp rise in gas prices and public transportation during the summer of 2008.
The development of energy saving vehicles, public
transportation, and green energy are modern concerns, and in this broken economy, it is said that these are the things that will turn our economic slump around. For the first time in a long time, public transportation has become a “visionary” concept. President Barack Obama has declared transportation to be one of the singular means for getting the economy on its feet again.
Current economics prove that transportation has a huge impact on society.
Brookside has opened “Moving Forward: Exploring Our Routes in Saratoga County,” a
temporary exhibition examining the history of transportation in Saratoga County. From Native trails, to horse and buggy, trolley systems to personal vehicles, how people “got around” Saratoga County has helped make our region into what it is today.
